Behind the show guides
Written in Waterford by people who enter cars and then stand beside them all day. No organiser, club or trader pays for a word of it.
Start with what this is not
It is not an events calendar. Dates shift, venues change hands, and a list that has gone stale by March is worse than no list at all.
It is not a club and it speaks for none. Nobody here holds an office anywhere, and no committee sees a page before it appears.
It is not a judging authority. We do not score cars, settle placings, or offer a view on a result somebody is unhappy about.
What it is instead
Guides to the part of showing a car that happens before the gate opens: entries, transport, the fortnight of preparation, and the difference between a pitch you took and a pitch a club handed you.
The material comes from doing it, from entry packs read line by line, and from asking the people who run stands what they wish entrants understood in advance.
Who ends up reading it
Owners past forty-five, mostly, with a car that has sat in a family or a shed for years and has never been entered anywhere.
Also owners who show locally and wonder what a larger event would ask of them.
Neither group is assumed to belong to a club. Vocabulary particular to the hobby is explained the first time it appears and not afterwards.
The money question, answered plainly
No registered company stands behind this, no trading name, nothing on any register, because there is nothing to register. The publisher page carries the same sentence.
Costs come out of pocket, topped up by the sessions under advisory sessions. Nobody buys space here, no guide is sponsored, and no club or organiser has ever sent money.
Should any of that change, this paragraph is what changes first.
